To register a child born in Germany in the Lebanese civil registry, submit the completed form together with the following documents. The form must be filled in Arabic and German.

  • Completed Birth Registration Form (valid from September 2022) — signed by both parents
  • Original German birth certificate (with the father's full name entered) + 2 copies
  • For twins: birth certificate must include the exact hour and minute of birth
  • 2 copies of a current Lebanese Family civil registry (Qaid Nufus)
  • 2 copies of the legally valid Lebanese marriage certificate
  • 1 addressed, stamped return envelope (for return of originals and confirmation letter)

Note: After registration at the Embassy and while waiting for registration at the Lebanese General Directorate of Personal Status, the Embassy can issue a Laissez-Passer for the child to travel to Lebanon. Parents must submit a request with 3 passport photos of the child, signed by both father and mother.

Registration is free of charge.

  • Original German marriage certificate + 2 copies
  • 2 copies of a current Individual civil registry record for each spouse
  • For a non-Lebanese spouse: 2 copies each of their birth certificate and passport/ID card
  • 1 addressed, sufficiently stamped return envelope (for returning original documents and sending a confirmation)

  • Death Registration Application Form (valid from September 2022)
  • Original German death certificate or death notice + 2 copies
  • 2 copies of the deceased's current Lebanese Family civil registry (not older than 3 months)
  • 2 copies of the deceased's executed Lebanese marriage certificate
  • Deceased's Lebanese passport (if available)
  • 1 addressed, sufficiently stamped return envelope (for returning original documents and sending a confirmation)

To register a divorce granted in Germany with the Lebanese civil registry, submit the completed form with the following documents. The form must be filled in both Arabic and German.

  • Divorce Registration Application Form (valid from September 2022)
  • Original German divorce judgment marked „rechtskräftig“ (final), certified by the president of the Amtsgericht or the Landgericht, with a certified Arabic translation + 2 copies — note: certification must appear on the original judgment, not on the translation
  • 2 copies each of the current Lebanese Family civil registry and the executed Lebanese marriage certificate
  • Power of attorney from one of the divorced parties (to enforce the divorce judgment in Lebanon), issued at the Embassy or by a German notary with court certification and Arabic translation

Note: For a religious divorce the Embassy does not issue a divorce certificate. Each party must appoint a representative in Lebanon to register the divorce at the competent Sharia court.

Fee note: Consular fees were revised effective 1 March 2026. Please review the Consular Fees page or contact the Embassy to confirm the currently applicable fee for the power of attorney and the divorce-judgment certification before payment. A stamped return envelope must still be enclosed.

  • Request for Correction of Personal Status Data (valid from November 2021)
  • Original German birth certificate
  • Current Individual civil registry record from the Lebanese registry (not older than 3 months)
  • Lebanese birth certificate and executed marriage certificate (if married)
  • Parents' Family civil registry and marriage certificate
  • 1 addressed, sufficiently stamped return envelope
